A First Time Visitor’s Guide to Vacationing in Breckenridge Colorado

First time visitors to Breckenridge, Colorado are likely to find that the town is a destination unlike any other. Sitting in a high alpine valley at an elevation of 9,600 feet, Breckenridge’s climate and atmosphere are significantly different than those of lower elevations. This requires an adjustment on the part of those visiting from lower altitudes. Vacationers can make their first Breckenridge vist a comfortable and enjoyable one by following a few simple steps. Here’s how:

Adjusting to Breckenridge’s altitude takes time. Stay well hydrated and well rested in order to prevent the onset of altitude sickness. Do not over exert yourself during your first days of your stay. Guests who refrain from consuming alcohol, tobacco and caffeine for the first two to three days of your stay will notice a tremendous difference. Light activity aides visitors in recovering from altitude symptoms faster than bed rest does. Sleep decreases the rate of respiration and an excessive amount of sleep can actually exacerbate the effects of altitude.

Pack appropriately for cold weather skiing and snowboarding. Utilize layers of clothing that can be added or removed throughout the day as on-mountain weather typically shifts throughout the day. Layer in articles of clothing that draw sweat away from the skin to keep you warm and dry, in even the coldest of conditions. Wool, silk and synthetic fibers such as polypropylene and fleece are typically the moste efficient. Cotton absorbs moisture and dries slowly, meaning if you get wet, you’re going to be cold all day.Ski jackets and pants should also be waterproof and breathable.

Thoroughly research and book your accommodations well in advance of your arrival. While there are virtually limitless options when it comes to Lodging in Breckenridge, the most convenient options typically sell out far in advance. Consider what amenities are important for you to have on-site or nearby, such as onsite property management, pools, hot tubs, shops, restaurants, etc.

Finally, first time skiers and snowboarders should consider taking a lesson with Breckenridge’s Ski and Ride School. The ski resort has developed programs that are specifically geared towards entry level snow sports participants. A lesson can save you hours (or even days) of frustration trying to pick up a new sport, and will have you linking turns and cruising the mountain in no time.

Properly preparing for your vacation, following a bit of common sense and listening to your body will help make your first Breckenridge, Colorado vacation an enjoyable one. By ensuring that you and your travel partners are well-equipped for your trip, you can all but guarantee yourself the ski vacation of a lifetime.

Deer Valley Ski Resort : Vacation Destination

Deer Valley Ski Resort : Vacation Destination

With the holidays approaching quickly and the New Year right around the corner many people are deciding that a vacation is necessary, and not many vacation are more enjoyable than a ski vacation to Deer Valley, Utah. Usually when people start thinking about what it takes to put together a stellar ski vacation package for themselves and their family and friends the first consideration is where to go. When I ask most people where they think of when they think skiing and snowboarding I typically get a response for Colorado resorts and sometimes B.C. Now there are lots of reasons why Colorado is indeed a fantastic place to ski and ride but believe me when I say Deer Valley Utah has everything Colorado does and maybe more.

First, The Location: Deer Valley opened as a fully operational ski resort in 1981. Since its opening in the 80’s Deer Valley has garnished a fantastic reputation as a world class destination for skiing. The resort places great pride on its customer service and quality of experience for patrons. Because of this awesome commitment to care Deer Valley was named the number 1 ski resort in North America by SKI Magazine in 2008, 2009, and yes 2010. Wow. That’s pretty impressive considering the competition.

Second, The Town: Deer Valley Utah is actually located on an old mining town that is part of Park City. Its relatively close distance to Salt Lake City (36 miles) makes it a wonderfully short ride from the Salt Lake City International Airport. One of my favorite aspects of the resort is that it’s so close to the historic main street, only about a mile walk. So after a long day skiing, a walk through the beautiful old town district is close as can be.

Third, The Mountain: At a base elevation of 6,570ft Deer Valley commands 100 runs that cover nearly 2,026 acres. There is terrain park for the snowboarders in your group and plenty of Gondola’s (21 in total). The lift system is quite impressive with a skier capacity of 46,500/hr.

To wrap things up I just want to repeat when your considering your ski vacation package this year, take Deer Valley into your calculations.

“To book your Ski Packages & Vacation Deals you can contact http://www.GetSkiTickets.com.
Copper Mountain Ski Vacation

Copper Mountain Ski Vacation

Colorado is world renown for its breathtaking scenery and amazingly diverse ski resorts. Among the many resorts Colorado has to offer some being large operations such as Aspen or Vail get most of the international and national attention yet when visiting its smaller equally stunning resorts can offer more of a intimate experience with the Rockies. One of these ‘smaller’, mom and pop resorts nested in the Rockies is Copper Mountain.

When putting your package together consider one thing as extremely important, distance. Check how far your lodging, rental store, and airport is in relation to you resort. The closer the better but also the more expensive.

Copper as it usually called is located in Summit County, Colorado and is about 75 miles from Denver up the I-70. Copper consists of two peaks above 12,000 feet and offers a huge vertical change. The base elevation of the resort is 9,712 feet and tops out at 12,313 feet. It has an impressive 125 ski runs, 21% of which are considered beginner, 25% intermediate, 36% advanced, and 18% for the experts. The terrain consists of 2,433 acres accessible by a state of the art ski lift system. With 22 total lifts: 5 high-speed chairs, 10 chairs, 6 surface chairs, 1 tubing makes getting around a snap. All this is terrain is packed with nearly 280 inches of snowfall a year. So expect fresh powder on your vacation, lots of it.

Because it’s a less known resort expect short lines and shorter wait times than you would at other Colorado resorts but don’t expect to be shorted on the experience its truly a world class experience.

Last but not least remember to have fun and relax!
